Alternative Gifts: Pleasing to Everyone
- I had a small staff and wanted to give them each a gift. Instead of buying something they didn't need or want, I gave each of them an alternative gift - a donation to a charity in their name. I selected a charity that I thought each would appreciate. To an animal lover, I gave a gift to ASPCA, etc. They loved the gifts and were pleased that I had thoughtfully picked a charity. All said it was the best gift!

Favorite Gift
- My favorite gift as a boss was a gift basket filled with a bunch of small items that accurately reflected all the things I like both in terms of munchies and hobbies. It was personal, but not too personal. It showed me that my staff was tuned into who I was and since it was given as a group I didn't get the sense that anyone contributed more than they could afford and no one was trying to stand out. It was great.
