Use Training or Lose Training

When an employee attends a conference, seminar or educational event of any kind, the transfer of the knowledge gained to the workplace is essential. It’s also the hardest part of training and development. Employees must use the ideas obtained in the training session immediately upon their return to work. Use it or lose it is a standard saying in the training field. It’s a correct statement. The employee must be expected to demonstrate the use of the training in a work environment that supports the use of the training. Most powerful? It helps if the boss asks, “What did you learn in the training – and what do you plan to do differently, now that you’ve learned it?”
