WHAT'S NEW?

Dear People,

February 2nd is Groundhog’s Day. If the groundhog sees his shadow, when he pops up out of his hole, he’ll return to his burrow for another six weeks of winter. If not, he’ll stay above ground, and we’ll thankfully await spring.

Particularly if you’re a parent looking for something fun and informative for the weekend, Sherri Osborne, the About Guide to Family Crafts, has some great links and ideas about fun ways to celebrate Groundhog’s Day.

For me, it is another opportunity to explore the European roots of many U.S. traditions. Thinking about next year in the HR world, it could be a great day to celebrate and reward employees. (Everyone who shows up for work every day for the next six weeks gets a special reward.) Look for an article on this topic soon--not groundhogs, but rewards and recognition! Heck, if you are really agile, you could announce this initiative for this year! Good luck!

The About HR site is now officially accepting reader submissions for potential publication. If you are interested, please send me an e-mail to discuss topics, or use this form to submit material for consideration.

Visit often, stay as long as you’d like; my door is always open. Introduce yourself in the Forum! Help create a useful HR community!

Thanks for reading. I am always interested in your feedback. What can I do to make this newsletter and the About HR site better serve your HR needs? Together, we can create a site that effectively serves the information needs of the forward thinking Human Resources community.

Regards,

Susan
