Napoleon Hill said, "What the mind of man can conceive and believe, it can achieve." Thus, dreams are important. But, don't spend your life on little dreams. Define your purpose, your mission, your goals, and your direction. Think big dreams.
Are you willing to challenge yourself with some big goals this year? The term Big Hairy Audacious Goal (BHAG) was used by James Collins and Jerry Porras in their book, Built to Last: Successful Habits of Visionary Companies (compare prices). A BHAG encourages an organization to accomplish goals that are longer term, visionary, emotionally compelling, and unifying for employees. I suggest that you need BHAGs for your life and career, too.
Most of us set goals as if we are creating an annual "to-do" list. Is it any wonder that these goals fail to rock our souls and demand our actions?
You can do better than this in 2013. Make this the year that you set BHAGs and watch your success and self-esteem soar. About.com's special goal setting and New Year's resolutions special resource will give your plans a boost.
