The Never Ending Search for Talent
This week, I’m doing interview training at a client company. This includes an overview of the hiring process for all participants so they have a context in which to think about interviews. The feedback from participants is always interesting. We have presented this training for several years now and it’s educational for me to hear which components are implemented and which are not.
In any process, improvement is possible. So, our hiring and interview processes will continue to develop over time as we learn more. Gradually, a pattern for selecting employees who are successful in the company will emerge. Even with layoffs in the U.S. at a fourteen year high of 6.5%, the competition for the best employees with the technical knowledge and skills we need, will escalate.

Recruiting an employee starts with a job description and a recruiting planning meeting or email. Because job descriptions are popular with site visitors, I’d like to add more. This Human Resources Recruiter job description was developed by Amy Nourse (pictured), the HR Manager at TechSmith Corporation.
Do you have a policy, a job description, a form or a checklist that has served your organization well? I am always looking for samples to share with site visitors. You can submit your work and I’ll recognize you in the published piece.
