New Case Study Resource About Managing

Friday November 9, 2007
Here's a nicely done, new resource for you. BusinessWeek.com's Interactive Case Studies reside within its newly launched Managing Channel. Each Interactive Case Study features a story, a column, two videos, a reader poll and an opportunity for readers to engage in substantive discussion of a real-life business case.

The current case study zeroes in on what happens when a manager at a large commercial banking institution has a high-performing employee who insists on coming to work dressed for a block party. Does he forgive him his failure to follow the company's appropriate dress code because he's a high performer? Or, does he press the issue to motivate the employee to follow their financial services dress code?

And, how far can a company push an employee into conforming to a dress code. The answer is pretty far. Take a look and I especially recommend that you read the legal analysis that follows the case study.
