Bruce Katz, an economist with the Brookings Institution, said that Elaine Chao and the Labor Department are right to focus "initially" on helping workers to
prepare for jobs in construction and clean up. In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, these jobs are likely to make up a large portion of the available jobs in the New Orleans economy for the next year. Longer term, he suggests housing vouchers to enable people to move closer to jobs.

Well, they surely mistreated their employees during hurricane gustav. Boyd Gaming allowed Treasure Chest employees to stay in a run-down hotel in Las Vegas with no bed linens, no bath linens, no soap or any amenities. There was dog doodoo in the hallway of the hotel and nobody cleaned it. It was aweful! Then, they refused help to people to needed it when they returned to work.
I was wondering if Boyd Gaming was aware of the double standards Delta Downs Promotes in their Food & Beverage Dept. Not meaning to come off as a disgruntled ex-employee, but I was not aware that they had changed the policy on tip reporting. To my knowledge management was not to be involved in how much money a customer had given you unless it was over $250. For them to label me “dishonest” for refusing to do so seems a little extreme to me. Yet they can allow their “supervisors”, to have affairs with their employees with no consequences for THEIR actions and
