Make it quick
- Some years ago I had a one-day course on our Performance Management system that I was taking around internally for all managers & supervisors. One group found it hard to make time; I agreed to cut back and give the bare bones in two hours. I set it up and one of the first managers to arrive sat down, folded her arms, looked me in the eye and said, "What are you going to take two hours to tell us that you can't tell us in 5 minutes?" I wanted to say, It's not my telling but your learning that takes the time. Instead I spoke about the importance of people management.
