How Do You Provide Cost Effective Employee Training
When we switched to Microsoft Software Applications we paid for some very expensive training for everyone and didn't get anywhere. Then we formed a "User's Group" internally that proved very successful for training employees and improving employees' self confidence in their knowledge. The Users Group is providing cost effective, useful training that employees need.
What Results Do You Experience From Employee Training
Several times a month we provide lunch and everyone gathers at lunch time. We select one software application to highlight that meeting, and have a 10 to 15 minute lesson (i.e. how to format a paragraph in Word) and then employees from the group share a tip with everyone on an overhead projector. It's usually something new, or a shortcut that they have learned during the month. This way I can direct and get out an actual lesson, and they get to share what has helped them do their job. The reaction is amazing when the person with the least skills takes the floor and presents something that no one had ever done before and she becomes the expert. Not only does it build confidence in using the software it creates a willingness to learn and use the new software.
