I had weekly meetings with her to check in on shared projects. Although she was a co-worker and not my direct report, I took the initiative to schedule the meetings with her, schedule deadline dates for every action item, and follow up with her a couple of days before each item was due.
Tips and Tricks
- meet often and check in on the problem issues
- review what was discussed and agreed to at the end of the meeting to ensure there isn't any miscommunication
- send notes after the meeting, and flag action items and deadlines so as to not leave any room for excuses
