Tardiness and Absenteeism Policy

Tardiness is not the same as flexible scheduling which is available for many employees in salaried or exempt positions. Tardiness, which is arriving at work after the scheduled start time, has the most impact on jobs that depend on coworkers arriving to do their share of the work and frequently affect non-exempt employees. Shipping and manufacturing are two examples.

Team Norms Sample

Every team has two components that team members must pay attention to if the team is going to succeed. The team must pay attention to the content (or goals or outcomes expected). The team must also carefully shape and monitor the process it uses to accomplish the goals. Here are sample team process norms or guidelines that a team might use to effectively conduct its business.

Telephone Interview: Initial Phone Screening

The telephone interview or candidate screen allows the employer to determine if the candidate's qualifications, experience, workplace preferences and salary needs are congruent with the position and organization. The telephone interview saves managerial time and eliminates unlikely candidates. Review the suggested format.

Telephone Use Policy - Manufacturing Facility

Company employees may receive or make personal telephone calls during break periods only. If a telephone call is received during a non-break time, and the call is not an emergency, callers will be asked to leave a message. See the sample telephone use policy for manufacturing facilities.

Termination Checklist

Employees leave your organization for good and bad reasons. On the positive side, they find new opportunities, go back to school, retire or land their dream job. Less positively, they are fired for poor performance or poor attendance or experience a layoff because of a business downturn. In each instance, you need an employment termination checklist to help the employee exit process go smoothly.

Vacation Days Policy

Paid vacation days are time off work an organization provides employees as a benefit. The number of paid vacation days is generally accrued by employees based on years of service to the organization.
