W-4 Form for Tax Withholding

By

Definition:

Employees fill out Form W-4 to help them determine the appropriate amount of federal income tax withholding their employer should withhold from each employee paycheck so that your tax liability is covered. Employees should consider filling out a new Form W-4 annually so that the amount of federal tax withholding is correct, based on your tax filing from the prior year.

Filling out the W-4 Form to indicate the amount of federal income tax the employer should withhold generally occurs during the Human Resources component of the new employee onboarding process.

See: How to Fill Out Form W-4.
