Release of Claims

By , About.com Guide

Definition:

A release of claims is a written legal contract between an employer and a former employee. The release of claims lays out an agreement between the departing employee and the employer, that in return for severance, the former employee agrees not to sue the employer. Legally, the employee agrees to release the employer from all claims of discrimination and wrongful termination by signing the release.
