<Back to Prior Page> <FAQ Index> Do you have an article you've written that you want read by a broad audience of Human Resources professionals, managers, and people who want to be successful at work? Can you provide a management tip; the description of a successful work process; sample forms, policies, or checklists; or the details of an HR program or process that is serving your organization well? The About.com HR Web site seeks to publish well-written, informative, forward thinking articles and ideas. Writer's Guidelines Topics: Any subject that will interest people who are human resources professionals in positions such as generalist, director, vice president, training manager, organization development manager, compensation specialist, labor relations staff, consultant, or instructional designer. The site also appeals to line managers who want to create a motivating, productive, people-oriented work environment. People who seek succes at work and who want to build a successful career also read this site. The topics we publish deal with forward thinking ideas in the field. We try to stay away from material you can find everywhere else online. Format: Pieces published are generally 900 - 2,000 words in length. They are formatted with the best online features including many sub-headings and lists of relevant tips. Supporting material and links to Web sites that expand the topic are welcome. Articles focus on "what you need to know" content, actionable advice for our audience. We also consider book reviews, reviews of videos, HRIS systems, and any other relevant HR content - especially comparison reviews, "top picks" pieces, and round-ups. Editing: The HR Guide reserves the right to edit your submission for clarity, style, and format. You will not have final review rights before your article is published. If you read through the site, you will find that all authors have been well-served in this editing process. Payment: About.com HR is not a paying market. Since philosophically, we believe writers should be paid for content, please only submit material for publication for which you have a compelling business purpose in seeking this platform. At the same time, any writing that is overly commercial in nature will not be published. All authors receive a brief biographical sketch that includes links to your Web site and your email. This is published and linked with your article. Author Rights: If you are submitting a potential feature article, we request exclusive worldwide electronic rights to publish the article at the About.com Human Resources site for ninety days - your Web site is an exception. About.com and Susan M. Heathfield, HR Guide, retain non-exclusive rights after ninety days to archive your article on the site and all other rights as stated in the disclaimer below, which you must submit to be published. At no point do you lose your rights to your work. If you have written a paper that you feel is perfect for the site and it has been published elsewhere online, please email the Guide. If the distribution has been narrow, your piece might still merit consideration for publication here. Submission: Use this form to submit content and material for consideration or follow the email instructions below the form. If you do not hear from the Guide within five working days, please send email to the Guide to make sure your submission was received. If you feel your content is too long for the space provided, feel free to email it to me. Just be certain to add the disclaimer. "I certify that I am the author or sole owner of the material I am submitting to About.com. About.com and its licensees may reproduce, distribute, publish, display, edit, modify, create derivative works and otherwise use the material for any purpose in any form and on any media. I agree to indemnify About.com for all damages and expenses that may be incurred in connection with the material." If the disclaimer is not included, I am unable to consider your material for publication. Thank you for your interest in the About Human Resources site. Your content submission is appreciated. <Back to Prior Page> <FAQ Index>
