Are you interested in building more effective teams? Team building articles are among the most popular on my site. I think that it's because it's so hard to do. Building an effective, functioning work team, a team that challenges and excites its members, is tough to do.
People mean well, but, for example, a business team that is responsible for a product will not move that product forward by using team meetings to share information. Teams and meetings are for planning, decisions, disagreement about direction, and energizing team members with excitement, not for listing the ten next features to develop in the product.
Likewise, if team members always agree with each other or argue constantly, the team has a problem. If decisions are made and then, constantly revisited, something went wrong in the decision making or the team relationships.
I've pulled together the site's resources, so that you can use them to take a look at your teams and departments. How to Build a Successful Team starts with describing what a team is and moves on from there. Teams having trouble? Use the resources below to diagnose and then, rebuild or build your teams. 12 Tips for Team Building is a great diagnostic checklist.
