The HR editors at BLR decide annually on the list of issues that Human Resources staff will be challenged to manage for that year. In 2013, the editors picked these:
- HRIS
- Talent acquisition
- Healthcare benefits
- Recruitment and applicant tracking
- Retirement benefits
- Health and wellness
- Background checks
- Pre-employment and employee testing
- Recognition, rewards, and incentives
- Performance appraisals
I agree with these and would add employee retention, employee engagement, and managing remote employees. For the BLR HR editors' rationale, visit their newsletter, available from their site.
I'm a long term reader of the BLR newsletter, The HR Daily Advisor, and recommend that you subscribe if you don't already. They always have interesting and timely information.
If you're not already a subscriber to this About.com HR site's newsletter, please subscribe for all of the most recent updates.
While I'm rounding up resources for you, I hope you'll take a look at the most recent HR Carnivals to find some excellent writers to read. Guatam Gosh hosted the late December Carnival at his Talent and Social Business blog and Ben Martinez hosted the January Carnival the HR Hound Way.
