You'd think that communicating with an employee about a salary increase would be fun and motivating for you both. And, it can be. When you know how to communicate the pay raise effectively, your verbal communication adds to the recognition and good will that the employee experiences.
Even when the news you communicate is good news about a raise, perhaps the employee expected more. Or, he or she disagrees with the reasons why the raise is what it is.
