Need a Simple Business Attire Policy?

Need a simple, sample dress code policy to specify appropriate business attire for your workplace? I've developed lengthy business attire policies in response to reader requests.

But, some workplace managers may not choose to so closely describe and monitor employee business attire. If that describes your workplace, these new policies are for you.

Here are simple dress codes that describe appropriate business attire for a formal work environment, a business casual work environment, and a casul attire environment. You might consider starting with these simple dress codes and then, add more guidelines if these simple business attire policies don't work.

As you know, I am not a fan of having a lengthy policy for every workplace behavior. At some point, you need to trust employees and treat employees like the adults that they are. But, even as I say this, sometimes employee behavior surprises you and disappoints you. May that be the minority of cases.

Great points Susan. I’ve found that employees are only as negative as the environment they work in. It’s helpful when leadership and management provide opportunities for employees to feel great and be more fulfilled. Each company chooses what kind of environment and culture they create. There are many options for creating a happier organization including team building to ongoing praise.
