I'm working on interview questions for employers to use that zero in on particular skills you may seek in the candidates that you are interviewing for a job. These questions are generally behaviorally-based and ask your candidates to tell you about both their accomplishments and the challenges that they have overcome in the past.
Although I occasionally find myself asking a candidate how he or she would handle a particular situation, I learn much more when I ask them to describe how they have handled the situation in the past. Asking the candidate to predict their reaction is a lot like asking them to gaze into a crystal ball. Though, you do learn something about how he or she thinks about and approaches an issue.
Since developing interview questions, I have also asked you to share your favorite interview questions. Some of you have even taken the time to tell us why you like to use the submitted question. I have learned from and borrowed questions from your faves. I also love your favorite candidate answers to your interview questions.
New Interview Questions
Today's new interview questions help you assess your candidate's planning skills and experience.
My most recent new questions assess your candidate's comfort with empowerment. I don't hear about this concept as much as I used to, but for me, it is one of the attributes I most seek and treasure in an employee.
Within clear expectations and guidelines and a clear understanding of the company's goals, of course, I want individuals who are willing to take responsibility, make decisions, and hold themselves accountable - all components of empowered behavior from an employee. Take a look at the empowerment interview questions for employers.
I'm always interested in hearing about the attributes and characteristics that you'd like to identify in the candidates you interview. Please let me know your interests in comments.
These are the interview questions I have already developed and the advice I offer about what you are looking for in your candidates' answers.
