Emptying My Sleigh
Just a few resources to share with you today… I encountered several interesting sites worth sharing with you over the holidays.
The Carnival of Human Resources is available for your perusal at the Career Encouragement Blog. Take a look to see how the year ended in economics, culture, self assessment, organization development, and more.
Words of Wisdom
One of my favorite and most inspirational writers is Roy H. Williams, The Wizard of Ads. What you may be thinking does a wizard - of ads - no less, have to do with Human Resources? Susan must have overdosed on Harry Potter this holiday season. Not true. Roy Williams reminds me of who I am and who I want to become. So, I am sharing his work with you.
- In Storm Fear, Roy reminds us that, “The opposite of life isn’t death. The opposite of life is fear. A young rabbi once said, ‘Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass. It’s about learning to dance in the rain.’” He lists the most important fears that keep us from dancing.
- In Introverts and Extraverts, Roy perfectly defines my view of what makes me define myself as an introvert. It has a lot to do with how you charge your emotional batteries. Take a look.
- Finally, in The Secret of Happiness, He asks us who we will be in 2009.
All of that in just three weeks – worth your time.

Workplace Retrospectives and Resolutions
Julie Ferguson at the HRWebCafe Blog does a good job of rounding up Workplace Retrospectives and Resolutions from various writers at year end. She asks us to look forward and to look back to remember. She made me laugh out loud and her choices are great. Thanks, Julie, for including my Top Ten New Year's Resolutions. Why not share yours. You did make some - yes? Try out our new reader answer form at the bottom of the article.
