Your Image Is Your Primary Communication Tool

Wednesday November 5, 2008

Of all the problems employees have complained to me about over my years of consulting, communication tops the list. The constant quest for effective communication requires that you assess any communication you make via 4Cs: comprehension, connection, credibility, and contagiousness. How you present yourself is the first step in communicating the professional message you'd like to send to your colleagues, coworkers, and bosses.

Successful people believe their success is attributable to a pattern of mutually beneficial interpersonal relationships, as much as it is due to technical skills or business knowledge. For networking, for career success, and for just feeling better about yourself, make sure the image you communicate is the professional one you want to use to communicate who you are.
