Promote Corporate Social Responsibility

Saturday November 1, 2008

I’ve written about forming a green team at work. In fact, it’s one of the five teams I most recommend for small and mid-sized companies. (Larger companies and organizations might want to think about teams by location.) My recommendation is for our planet, but also for employee motivation. Our younger employees, especially, have been raised to embrace green practices.

Today’s guest author, Shafiq Lokhandwala (pictured), takes the green team further and talks about the motivation factors in Corporate Social Responsibility programs. He believes that CSR programs give global companies a language and a practice that will bond employees and the company across languages, regions, and country boundaries. He says the Human Resources role is essential.

Human Resource Departments play a critical role in ensuring that the company adopts Corporate Social Responsibility programs. Furthermore, HR can manage the CSR plan implementation and monitor its adoption proactively, while documenting (and celebrating) its success throughout the company.

Human Resources technology can help with a Corporate Social Responsibility program, including reducing the company’s carbon footprint to benefit the planet.
