I think it’s pretty sad that 46% say their work environment either lacks trust or deliberatly fosters mistrust. I’d be interested to know how financially stable those companies are. My belief is that a lack of communication is the basis of mistrust. While this can occur in profitable, growing businesses,it is especially destructive in a workplace where business is in a downturn. When employees don’t know what the direction the company is taking they fear the worse and morale suffers. When employees are told by management what the strategic plan is, they are then able to deal with facts rather than rampant speculation.

Trust is always earned. If the Managers in an organization always walk their talk, employee trust will be high.

Trust is difficult to obtain since either party can disengage with out notice at any time.
