Blogging and Social Media Policy Sample

Monday June 9, 2008

As an employer, you walk a fine line between infringing on employee rights and protecting what is said about your company, your employees, and your products online. The ever expanding social media opportunities for interaction on the Internet make guidelines essential so employees know what you expect. I spent a lot of time developing today's lead policy and I am looking for feedback. I think it walks this fine line. Please let me know what you think.

From the Policy...

Your Company recognizes the importance of the Internet in shaping public thinking about the company and our current and potential products, employees, partners, and customers. Your company also recognizes the importance of employees joining in and helping shape industry conversation through blogging and interaction in social media. These guidelines in this blogging and social media policy will help you make appropriate decisions about your work-related blogging content and online interactions.
