Poll: What Is Your Conflict Resolution Style?
Monday June 12, 2006
Many people are afraid of conflict resolution. They feel threatened by conflict resolution because they may not get what they want if the other party gets what they want. Even in the best circumstances, conflict resolution is uncomfortable because people are usually unskilled at conflict resolution. Finally, people can get hurt in a conflict and, at work, they are still expected to work together effectively every day. Practicing personal courage is necessary if you want to really resolve conflicts at work. Take a look at Personal Courage and Conflict Resolution at Work.

I have a tendency to avoid conflict if necessary. I never learned to argue effectively. Listening during a conflict is really necessary as well. It’s a learning thing.
Listing is very important, as far as actions are concerned, for me its situation dependent because at one time you would be acting like a procrastinator while other times you would be a communicator or a negotiator.
I have a negotiator/communicator style. However, I am skeptical that 33% of your responders are intimidators. That finding speaks more to the anomynity of the Internet that a real finding. In real life, these Internet “bullies” may be avoidersmore than anything else!
I must admit I agree with you. I don’t generally find that percentage of people with an intimidating style in the workplace.
