Change Lessons From the Field
Wednesday May 3, 2006
Change is scary for most people. And, people are especially resistant to change if they did not participate in designing the change or if they do not understand the rationale for making the change. Yet, to survive and thrive, organizations today need to change constantly. Take a look at some of the advice provided by site readers about how to make changing less painful and more effective:

Hi Susan,
One of the things I’m aware of concerning change is that in the West at least, I’ve yet to find a tradition of change. What I mean is that our institutions, stories, myths, legends, heros etc. are all portrayed in a finite (almost linear) light.
This contrasts with the I Ching seen in the East which introduces a perspective of change as a given. As people are familiar with this from an early age, the contrasting attitudes to change are quite interesting!
