Dress for Work Success: Business Casual Dress

Friday December 23, 2005
Interspersed with the "buy now - get it on time for Christmas" catalogs I've received this week, is the fresh onslaught of the "after holiday sale" catalogs. Given that many good sale values are available, it's a good time to take a look at Dress for Work Success: A Business Casual Dress Code. The company's objective, in establishing a dress code, is to enable employees to project a professional, business-like image while experiencing the advantage of more casual and relaxed clothing. Business casual dress is the standard for this dress code. Unless your office requires suits and ties, you can't go wrong if you follow these guidelines.

I'm taking my own advice this year and starting new traditions. I plan to complete my holiday cards, present delivery, and baking during the week between Christmas and New Year's Day. Believe me, I have done some of it already, and in many years past, I would have tried to jam every bit of it into the days before Christmas. No more. I have lowered my expectations. I'd rather take the time to write Aunt Bernie a note than to send a printed letter or even just a card. My loved ones would receive them by Christmas, but the time and care of a handwritten, personal note would be missing. Give yourself a break. Take a minute and read about how to Create a Very, Merry Holiday Season and how to Stress Less for the Holidays. Lower your expectations of yourself is the first piece of advice.
