When Generations Collide at Work
Thursday April 7, 2005
At a client company, we did an employee survey this week to measure our success with communication and team work. Note that we limited the survey to two areas of interest. In the past, we have asked about many aspects of employee satisfaction all at once and we were overwhelmed with the amount of data we received in response. To be responsive to the survey data, we need to make changes based on the input. To do this effectively, we will send the survey quarterly and limit the topics we ask about to two. I'll let you know how this works.
We expect demographics to play a big role in the responses we receive. Wonder why? Check out this quiz about age differences for an example. In every workplace, at least three generations, with all their different needs and wants, try to peacefully co-exist. This quiz, from the authors of When Generations Collide, will give you insight into the needs and wants of Boomers, Gen Xers, Traditionalists and Millenials. Curious?
