In an exit interview with a sales person (whom I really did not want to lose), I was reminded of the importance of how we bring a new employee on board. He said that we had provided him with a week to work in the various departments of the company. However, no one in the departments seemed to know what he was supposed to be learning. His new boss was on the road three days out of five and he felt as if he never really settled in to his new job. I think the company needs to take the hit for the loss of this person.
