Executive Resumes Must Do More Than List Accomplishments

Thursday November 18, 2004
Ready for your next job search? Standard practice suggests that your resume should always be up-to-date because you never know when the next opportunity will present itself. I am seeing a slight trend in resumes I am currently receiving. The applicant has failed to add his or her current employment to the resume, and focuses on it instead in the cover letter. I don't like it. I think it is a bad practice. It makes the applicant look unprofessional and unprepared. The resume looks as if the applicant is unemployed. In fact, my client CEO sent a resume back to me yesterday with this comment. "Looks qualified except for the unprofessional cover letter and resume. Let's see who else applies before talking with him." See Executive Resumes Must Do More Than List Accomplishments.
