Build an Organization Based on Values

Wednesday August 20, 2003

Values matter. I am struck more and more, now that I am spending time inside of an organization, that the values espoused by the organization really do matter. Values are not just a consultant's concept that everyone else sort of "buys into." They form the fundamental core of how the business interacts with employees, customers, vendors, the community, and each other. Think more about this concept ...

Is the organization employee-oriented? Or, do they just pay lip service to the concept? Do people get fired for mistakes or are they lauded for trying something different. Are they disciplined for repeating a mistake, but not for the first mistake? Do people closest to the process and need make the decisions? Are their decisions honored where possible? What do you really stand for? And, does everyone in your organization stand for that, too?

Today I offer you a link to an article that tells you how to build a values-based organization. Build an Organization Based on Values.
