FMLA Driving Your Organization Crazy?

Monday August 11, 2003

The Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), in the United States, provides up to twelve weeks off work for eligible employees to take care of personal illness or family medical issues such as pregnancy and birth, sick children, and many other difficulties. Many employers still don't understand the law and the obligations the law provides for employers.

This article is a good example of the difficulties both employers and employees are experiencing in understanding the law.

The biggest problem I am experiencing, at the moment, is what to do with employees with legitimate medical conditions and emergencies who have worked at the company less than twelve months.

You can find additional employment law information and more about complying with the FMLA on this website.
