Most people don't give company assets a second thought until they are lost, stolen or broken. Herein lies the problem. Employees must understand that ethical behavior is demonstrated not only in how they act toward others but also in how they treat property that doesn't belong to them...

I can't imagine "borrowing" a package of paper clips or a ream of paper to use at home unless I used these office supplies for legitimate company business.

The line is blurred for many people, however, as empty supply cabinets testify. In fact, in one client company, we had trouble keeping toilet paper in the bathroom; someone was taking the rolls home.
